We spent many months traveling around Scotland viewing Clydesdale mares before we went to view "Heatherwick Lady Jane" at Tom Gilles's stables in Laurencekirk, Scotland.
When
we looked around Tom's horses, we saw the two previous Clydesdale
fillies produced by Lady Jane, then went down the paddock to see
"Heatherwick Lady Jane", there was no doubt in our mind
that she was exactly what we had in mind for our breeding plan.
Bearing
in mind that Tom Gilles had been the owner of "Prince of
Torbruad's" sire "Phesdo Trouper"
(Prince was in fact the last colt sired Phesdo Trouper) and also
that Tom's one remaining mare was a half sister to Prince, we
had to take Lady Jane home.
At Torbruad, she loved nothing more than to accompany
Prince, when she could not be in his company, she seemed to have long distance conversations with him
over the farm, when they were re-united it was like
a lovers re-union.
In
May 2000, she produced her first foal to "Prince
of Torbruad", a filly. She went on to give us several good quality foals. She sadly passed away in 2006 and will be missed by all at Torbruad.
